In the past, most states have protected their adoption records. However, in the last few years several states have modified their stance on adoption records. Some now allow the adopted person to request their original birth certificate. Once the original is received, the adopted person’s mother’s name and age will be revealed. In some cases, the father’s name and age will also be revealed. It will now be a simpler case of locating a biological parent.
